Everlane vs. Madewell White Jeans

Remember when there were hard and fast rules about when you could wear white pants and jeans? Memorial Day to Labor Day and that was it. Well, I’ve already worn my white denim and skirt this season and have been in hot pursuit of finding the elusive PERFECT white jean. Does the ideal pair exist? I tried on four brands and purchased two, so below are my top faves…

Everlane Mid-Rise Skinny Jean in Bone // $68 – MY FAVE!

Everlane Tie-Dye Shirt (wearing a small, box tee style) // Everlane Mid-Rise Skinny Jean (wearing a 27 regular) // Veja Esplar Sneakers (fit TTS)

Why I love them: The fit, length and denim fabric of this Everlane pair are the BEST for my body type. Honestly, they look far more expensive than the under $70 price point. I love where they sit on my hips (not too high and not too low) and that they aren’t a bright, bleach white. Technically the color is ‘bone’ and they are a slightly more ‘matte’ white. I’ve worn them to the office with a black blouse and loafers and they looked professional enough for our office style.

Do they stretch? Minimally. The Everlane Japanese Denim is fairly stiff, they give a little bit, but ALSO hold their shape which is a big pro. They fit true to size – I’m a 27 in most brands (J.Crew, Rag & Bone, Madewell) and these fit perfectly.

Are they see through? Nope! You can barely see the lining of the front pockets which is rare, and you definitely can’t see any underwear lines.

Madewell 10-Inch High Waist Button Front Ankle Skinny Jeans // $135 – RUNNER UP

Everlane Silk Button Down (wearing a 4) // Madewell Skinny Jeans (wearing a 27 regular) // Steven Sandals

Why I like them: The length, button-fly and general ‘vibe’ of these jeans are best for the weekend. I like the frayed ankle and fit at my waist.

Do they stretch? Yep, these are pretty stretchy and kind of ‘hug’ you in. Not as stretchy as a legging, but a nice denim stretch blend.

Are they see through? Kind of. Since they are tighter and stretchy, you can see the front pockets and you have to be thoughtful about undergarments.

In my search I also tried the J.Crew Toothpick Jean which were not flattering on me. I find their denim sizing to be off and they were too tight in the legs but too loose in the waist. I also tried on the AG legging jean but for the higher price point I felt the denim fabric was too thin.
