I occasionally get questions about my favorite Everlane silk button down shirt that I now have in 3 colors – navy, black and stone – because I wear it all.the.time. Honestly, at least once a week, maybe more, and typically always pack it when traveling. Why, you ask? For one, it lays and drapes effortlessly. It runs true to size (I wear a 4) and works tucked in, front tied or untucked. If worn untucked it’s just long enough to cover my bum. My go-to look is a little front ‘half tuck’ with the back loose.

The most common query is “Is it see through??” Short answer, nope! Long answer, you need to wear the right bra. I wear a black bra under the black and navy blouses with any issue and then a nude shade under the ‘stone’ blouse. As long as you’re wearing the right bra for your skin tone, it should not show.

More reasons for all the love – it’s breathable (I would say more breathable than a cotton oxford), doesn’t get too wrinkly, even when packing (I use our streamer on it) and holds up incredibly well. I’ve had my navy one for over a year (I’m wearing it in this post) and it still looks like a $200 Equipment blouse.

Do you need to dry clean it? Yep. I would say I get 4 or so wears out of it (with a tiny bit of febreeze) before taking it to the cleaners. I really take care of my clothing and air dry many things, so taking a favorite top to the dry cleaners doesn’t feel like a big deal to me.

If you’re really looking for closet staples this spring or working on building a capsule wardrobe of your own, I would definitely recommend grabbing this shirt, or 3.
