Everlane Italian ReWool Overcoat (runs large, wearing a size 0) // Everlane ReNew Hoodie (slightly cropped, wearing a small. Made from recycled materials!) // Everlane Boyfriend Jeans (old, similar here) // Dr. Martens Pascal Boot (I sized down a full size to an 8) // Madewell Transport Tote
Back in high school, wearing Dr. Martens was pretty much the only option for ‘cool kid’ footwear. Endless options of clunky soles and leather to go with my ultra-flattering khaki school uniform pants. A haute look for sure. So when Dr. Martens started to have a resurgence, I was highly skeptical. ‘You mean to tell me that those high school clunkers are back and majorly in style?! No…’
I credit my husband for talking me into finally trying on the Pascal Boots in store because it turns out (gasp) I actually kind of love them. They still have that cool rocker vibe and the unforeseen practicality of wearing them in the city has been quite a pleasant surprise. These boots have been my go-to on slightly slushy, icy or rainy days when I don’t want to wear my full winter boots. I was concerned I would look a 16-year-old wannabe wearing these boots as an early-thirties adult, but turns out they are sported all over the city by women my age. And look effortlessly casual cool.
I find they look best with my distressed boyfriend jeans and a rolled cuff, but they also look great tucked into black jeans with thick socks. If you’re between sizes, I’d recommend sizing down. I’m usually a 8.5 or 9 in shoes and I sized down to an 8. Still roomy enough for a winter sock and no blisters to speak of.
WOW, these are surprisingly cute when you style them like this!

You still can’t style them as an adult. It’s just too hard to take an adult that wears them seriously.
I think they can absolutely be styled for an adult! I hope you aren’t in the same thought that an adult with tattoos can’t be taken seriously either!
