7 Neutral Pieces to Wear All Winter Long

Everlane Italian ReWool Overcoat (runs very large – wearing a size 0 and still has an over-sized fit) // Oversized Alpaca Sweater (slightly over-sized fit – I’m wearing a small) // Rag & Bone Jeans, but the Kick Crop Jeans in grey are very similar! (I wear a 27) // Everlane Western Boot in Bone (Run true to size and the low, block heel is actually quite comfortable!)

January can sometimes feel like a “meh” fashion month since the holidays have past and everyone is in hibernation mode, but it’s also the perfect time to play with layers and textures. I did a bit of new year closet re-organization and realized I don’t need any new winter pieces, but I have all the neutrals to mix and match until spring arrives. (And you know I luuuurvvv my neutrals).

I was going through my blog analytics (nerd alert) and realized ALL my 2019 top sellers were NEUTRALS! Heck yes. And all are from Everlane, which is also not a surprise since I love the brand. So I’ve rounded up my top selling items from last year that are perfect to mix and match for endless neutral ensembles.

This sweater was the most popular item of 2019 for good reason. A flattering oatmeal shade, incredibly soft cashmere and mockneck, which I personally prefer to a turtleneck. It’s a slightly relaxed fit (see photo on my LIKEtoKNOW.it) and a bit shorter than other sweaters, so it hits PERFECTLY at my high waist jeans.

Another top selling favorite. I have this classic blouse in 3 colors because it’s SO flattering and drapes so nicely. My favorite look is to tuck it into jeans with a belt, booties and some delicate gold necklaces. I wear a size 4 and it still has a bit of room.

Oh man, these jeans! I got my first pair of kick crops over a year ago and they look SO GOOD with ankle booties. They have a little boot cut at the bottom and kind of flare out a tish, so they show a tiny bit of ankle and you don’t have to worry about rolling up your jeans, or tucking them into your boots. They just automatically look like they were made for your ankle boots. Or sneakers. Or heels.

These boots are a match made in heaven with the kick crop jeans. Guys, these are so comfortable to wear all day because of the low block heel. I’ve walked across the city in them and even worn them all day at a trade show for work. No blisters or pain, just a chic boot.

Another sweater I own in multiple colors because it’s both cozy and flattering. Some people have asked if it’s itchy and my answer is no, not at all! And I have the most sensitive skin there is. You can easily layer a t-shirt or tank underneath.

I didn’t think I could pull off white boots, but I’m so glad I gave these a try because it turns out they go with endless outfits. The top hits a bit higher on my ankle than the Boss Boots, but they still look great with the kick crop jeans or skinny jeans.

This coat immediately elevates any outfit. It has an over-sized fit and runs large (I wear a 0) and is warm even for those cold and windy Chicago days.

  1. I want all of these in every color. Ha. Does the mock neck run TTS? If between sizes, would you go up or down?

    • Yes, the mock neck runs true to size. I’m wearing a small and it’s not tight, but is purposefully a little short in the torso. If between sizes I would probably go up just so it’s not too short! It’s great though! I wear it all the time.
