You know your skincare products are amazing when your husband tries to steal them…
2019 was decidedly a journey into cleaner skincare and beauty. It all started with a mission to help clear adult blemishes and hormonal skin issues (FUN), but I’ve simplified my routine and the ingredients I put on my face. It’s not only easier while getting ready, but all these changes have GREATLY improved my skin tone, texture and diminished breakouts.
Most recently, my favorite part of my skincare routine is my MAELOVE products. I was introduced to MAELOVE from a friend who is also passionate about simpler skincare that works. It’s fantastic skincare without the ludicrous mark-ups of the expensive brands.
In my morning before my 5 minute beauty routine, I wash my face and apply The One Cream, a gentle face moisturizer with coconut extracts. It’s perfect for dry, winter air when my skin is extra thirsty. Then I tap on a dab of The Eye Enhancer, which is the product Zak has pretty much hijacked. It has coffee extracts and peptides which helps diminish dark circles and REALLY helps de-puff that sensitive under eye area. (Also, incredibly helpful with slightly puffy eyes from holiday drinks and salty snacks…)
In the evening, my winter routine consists of washing my face, then applying a vitamin C serum and then the MAELOVE Night Renewer on top. It includes 10% glycolic acid, so it works like retinol without any irritation. I started out using this 2 nights a week to let my skin adjust (it’s a smidge tingly at first which is normal) and then upped it to 4 nights a week. It SERIOUSLY has the same results as a chemical peel I’ve gotten at the dermatologist office. I noticed a big difference in my skin tone and texture after only 10 nights! You can snag all 3 of my favorite products in an affordable trio for under $65!!
We just got back from holiday family time in Ohio late last night and I’m happy to say I didn’t have any breakouts or irritations while I was traveling. My skin is so sensitive to different soaps and waters that I always need to stay consistent with my routine when out of town.
My tips for keeping your skin happy and balanced while traveling…
ONE // Drink tons of water! Keeping hydrated is my #1 tip. The air is so dry right now and my skin just craves water. I consciously drink more than just 8 glasses a day and up that number to 10 or 12 glasses of plain water. Especially if I’m having wine. Gotta balance it all out!
TWO // Stay consistent! Traveling is not the time to switch up products. I still keep my same face wash and moisturizing routine for morning and night the exact same as my process when I’m at home.
THREE // Avoid touching your face and wash your hands! It takes some awareness not to lean on your hands or touch your nose, face, etc. all day, but avoiding constant touching helps prevent germs and breakouts.
