“Celebrating” the Fourth of July feels very different this year. Not only because there won’t be fireworks or parades or pool parties in order to be safe right now, but because “Independence Day” certainly doesn’t feel inclusive for all… And there is just so much work still to be done to get the U.S.A. to a place that lives up to its values and freedom. I count my blessings every.single.day because I am beyond fortunate and grateful for those who fought for our country and how lucky I am. But wow, this year has been heavy. (And I’m highly frustrated with like 50% of Americans right now who just won’t wear their freaking mask! Argh!)
I look forward to celebrating the summer season with friends this weekend, but I feel highly aware that there is still so much work to be done in our country. I want to continue to be an ally so that everyone has the same opportunities and freedoms, now and in the future.
