Because Eyebrows & Eyelashes Are All That Matter Right Now – My Basic Make-Up Favorites

Like many of my friends, I’ve worn very (veryyy) minimal make-up over the past 6 months and my skin is the clearest it’s been in a while. One benefit of working from home is definitely letting my skin just breathe, since I’m make-up free or sporting minimal make-up most days. (I also got some allergy testing done recently and eliminated dairy from my diet, so transparently I think that’s helped tremendously as well.)

But when I do go out, wearing my Sunday best to go to the grocery store, I’m wearing my mask. Since I don’t want to get mask-ne (anyone? chin acne from the mask??) I hardly put any make-up on the lower part of my face. It just clogs my pores and rubs off on my mask! I feel like eyebrows and eyelashes are the only important features these days. SO, here’s my minimalist daily make-up routine to keep things basic, but pretty.

Brows // My brows are a bit wild right now, as I haven’t had them professionally tweezed or touched up since February. But I’m feeling it! I lightly fill in any spots with the Anastasia Brow Pencil and hold them in place with brow gel. The duo is currently sold out from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (keep your eyes peeled to see if it comes back in stock!) but I also love this Hourglass brow gel. Keeps my natural brows in place!

Concealer // I dab a bit of concealer under my eyes to cover any dark circles and apply with a beauty blender. Then I do a light (liiiight) dusting of powder with a fluffy brush to set my concealer and dust across my forehead, nose and cheeks to even out my skin tone. I’ve found this Tarte concealer doesn’t crease like other concealers I have tried in the past.

Eyes // Because eye make-up is the fun thing to change up these days, I’ve been starting with a base of a nude powder and then brushing on a slightly shimmery shade on my lids. I’ll dab a bit of a bright white right in the corner of my eye to look more awake! My favorite eye palette is from Beautycounter and I love the Urban Decay eyeshadow pots. I haven’t been wearing much eyeliner lately, but I’ll dab a slightly darker shade from the palette on an eyeliner brush if I want to add a bit of dimension to my under eye.

Mascara // Ok, mascara is where it’s at when you’re wearing a mask! I’ve been using this mascara trio for yearssss and it gives me the longest and thickest lashes that won’t flake! I start with this Dior primer which really makes a noticeable difference for me. Then put on a single coat of Better Than Sex mascara followed by Maybelline Falsies Waterproof Mascara (the best $7 you can spend) and my lashes stay long and fluffy all day!
