Valentine’s Day can be a polarizing holiday, but it’s one I’ve always looked forward to. Probably because I’ve always had a deep-rooted love for all things stationery and snail mail. I had my collection of stickers and puffy paint READY when it was time to decorate our card boxes in grade school. I still enjoy putting together little gifts and packages for my girlfriends, mailing American Greetings cards, and displaying cute candy and treats on our coffee table at home.
Over the past few years, annual Galentine’s Day parties and phone dates have become tradition. I love heading to Target (duh) and beelining it to the Valentine’s décor, candy and cards sections for inspiration. I swear, I can spend an hour perusing the card aisle and finding the perfect little gift for each friend. If you can manage to leave Target spending less than $100, then you are a true hero. It’s all so cute and perfectly curated that I always end up adding little gifts and things I never knew I needed to my cart.
If my girlfriends and I can’t physically get together, we’ll have a group phone date or Skype chat just to catch up. This year, I’m looking forward to mailing them all American Greetings cards ahead of time with instructions to open when we are all on the phone together. That’s what I love about cards and snail mail–they make you feel connected, even when you can’t physically be together.

Thanks for the reminder. I love snail mail so much. My dad still sends greeting cards for ALL occasions, even when I’ll see him soon. He has started doing it for the kids too 🙂
I am a total sucker for cards! I have a huge box dedicated to cards for every occasion! Looks like I am going to need to add some “galentines” cards to the collection! Love this idea of making it a special day with best friends!
Love this idea! American Greetings always has the best cards but I didn’t even think of sending them to my girlfriends. New tradition, I think yesssssss!
Love this! Can’t wait to pick up some of these cards, so cute!!
