How To Layer Dainty Gold Necklaces

Other than a few key pieces of jewelry I wear everyday (namely my wedding ring and a threadbare thumb ring) I tend to go through phases with my jewelry. (ahem, remember when those super colorful J.Crew bubble statement necklaces were the trend? woof, I had those things in every color).

Anyway, right now I’m loving layering dainty gold necklaces. I’ve been growing a nice little collection over the past year and recently started wearing a few at a time. I love how easy it is to create a unique and custom look and that I can swap them out daily. This simple gold ball has been in my collection for awhile and I recently discovered Simple & Dainty on Etsy for high-quality affordable pieces. They also have a special layering clasp that I just purchased and it is CLUTCH for preventing layered necklaces from tangling throughout the day! They have an option for 2 or 3 necklaces together.

So how can you layer? Start with a shorter length option, maybe just a plain chain or a single stone charm. 14” or 16” is a good starting length. Then, layer on something slightly longer, about 18” inches, like this gold horn. Finally you can add on some longer necklaces, maybe with a gold pendant at the end. 20” or 22” inches (or longer!) should do the trick.

  1. That layering clasp is GENIUS! Some of my favorite necklaces are from flea markets and garage sales.
