How to Pull Off A Monochromatic Look + My Favorite Jeans Under $100

Everlane Texture Cotton V-Neck Sweater c/o (wearing a small and it still fits oversized) // Everlane Authentic Stretch High-Rise Skinny Button Fly Denim c/o (wearing 27 regular. Fits TTS. Only $78!) // Everlane Day Heel c/o (Fits TTS, super duper comfy)

My 2019 uniform (at least through April) is black on black. A classic and never basic monochromatic look (ahem, last seen here…) that always looks clean and pulled together.  If you’re thinking you can’t pull off an all-black outfit for fear of looking like Sandy from Grease, well, you’re wrong. EVERYONE can wear this and look perfectly pulled together.

My biggest tip for wearing a monochromatic look is mixing up textures.  All black conveys simple sophistication and throwing in a different texture, like this sweater, keeps it from being anything but boring. Plus, contrary to popular thought, you CAN pair black with navy. And brown. Neutrals all work together, people.

Let’s discuss these jeans for a moment, shall we? These are by far my most worn denim – at the office with a blazer or on the weekend with a cool t-shirt or sweater – and they are well under $100. They have the ideal amount of stretch and are incredibly flattering.

  1. Great outfit. I have always loved wearing black! Love this look particularly the way you put different textures together wearing all black. Never thought of that. The jeans look super comfy.

  2. The only reason I’m happy you are in Chicago is the fact that I can buy every outfit you post ( read:this entire outfit, specifically those jeans!) and we won’t be caught wearing the same thing at the same time. My current Everlane jeans look lonely in my closet sooooo time to get them a friend!
