My Skincare Routine Update

Whoa, it’s been a HOT MINUTE (ahem, 3 weeks…) since I posted or shared any life updates on this little blog space.  Whoopsies.  But, hello!  I’m back.  Work has been busy, weekends short and then the cold that’s been floating around the city hit our home, so I was out of commission for a bit.  Anyway, happy to be getting back into a healthy routine!

Today I wanted to share a few updates in my skincare regime and my journey towards tackling the very sexy early-30s hormonal adult acne.  So hot right now.  It’s funny, I was chatting with a co-worker the other day and we are both dealing with the same issues.  So many women are, but I feel like instead of swapping secrets and solutions, we’re just reaching for concealer.  (I first started talking about these issues here and here if you want to peek back at those posts).

I’m happy to report my skin has been improving!  My breakouts are FAR less frequent and a little blemish that pops up now and again is usually due to travel or stress.  I credit consistency and clean beauty swaps for my clear skin.

ONE // BEAUTYCOUNTER EYE MAKE-UP REMOVER

I’ve mentioned this before, but after tossing the Neutrogena make-up wipes out, I saw an immediate improvement in my skin.  I used them for years and I didn’t realize they were irritating my skin so much!  So now, I just do a quick swipe of a clean eye-maker remover before washing my face.

TWO // AESOP IN TWO MINDS CLEANSER and B & TEA TONER

For quite some time I was using a Mario Badescu acne facial wash, but I found it was too harsh and completely stripping my skin.  So now, I use a gentler and more natural facial cleaner from Aesop followed by a great toner for combination skin.  The toner really preps my skin for absorbing the moisturizer I apply and it balances it out.

THREE // BEAUTYCOUNTER ADAPTIVE MOISTURE LOTION

I’ve been using this moisturizer since I started making some switches to cleaner beauty. It adapts to my skin throughout the day and has such a nice, smooth finish.  I ALSO love to add some oil drops into my moisturizer, especially at night.  I got a trio of mini oils and the balancing oil is my favorite.

FOUR // BEAUTYCOUNTER RESURFACING PEEL

If I could recommend just one Beautycounter product, it would be the Overnight Resurfacing Peel.  It helps with skin texture, breakouts, tone and improves dullness.  I use it once or twice a week.

FIVE // MARIO BADESCU DRYING LOTION

If a pesky pimple does pop up, I just use a little q-tip size dap of this drying spot treatment overnight. I’ve used it for a few years and it will just dry up a blemish quickly.

In addition to sticking to a clean skin routine, I’ve also been wearing less make-up.  I still love make-up and playing with different eye looks, mascara and lip shades, but I’ve been wearing less foundation and powder which has been saving my skin and saving me TIME!  I’m working on my daily make-up tutorial for a (near) future blog post.

Finally, if you follow-up me on insta you may have seen I  recently tried facial acupuncture.  I really did like it and found it to me relaxing and informative.  My skin looked brighter and very refreshed afterwards.  If it wasn’t quite so pricey, I would love to go back once a month or so.  But for now it will just have to be a special treat.
