We’re living in unusual times right now… Like many of my friends, I ran the full gamut of emotions last week. Heavy anxiety, anger, sadness, confusion, calmness, gratitude. Alllll over the place. I know times are heavy, but I keep reminding myself I can’t control what happens, but I can control how I react. I hope we can all do our part to minimize the spread by staying home and staying distanced.
With this extra time at home, I’m trying to stay busy and productive within our four walls. Working from home has been a pleasant distraction, but I’ve also been slowing organizing every corner of our home. Here’s what I’ve been tackling while social distancing…
ONE // Tackling our shoe storage – I went a little crazy with Container Store shoe storage in order to get the shoe section of our closet more organized. (ahem, I blame Zak for the excess of shoes…) Photos to come on Instagram soon!
TWO // Jewelry cleaning and organization – Again, The Container Store currently has all my money. I went through all my jewelry, cleaned any tarnished pieces and delicately organized them in these perfect boxes. There is something so satisfying about ensuring every earring has a match and a back to its post.
THREE // Cleaned my make-up brushes – It had been awhile (months?) since I cleaned my make-up brushes so it was nice to get them all scrubbed and fresh. Next up is going through all my make-up, tossing any old lipsticks and organizing them in my dopp kit pouches.
FOUR // Running – Guys, I dislike running. A lot. BUT I need a freaking GOAL during this time frame. So I’ve started my running 1.5 miles a day and am hoping to get to 5 miles by the end of this quarantine time period…
FIVE // Reading – Just downloaded Nine Perfect Strangers. I recently finished Where the Crawdads Sing and have been ensuring I read instead of just staring at the TV all night. Any recent great book recos?!
SIX // Blokus – Have you ever played Blokus?! It’s oddly addicting! Fun game for 2-4 people.
If you’re online looking for home refresh inspiration, West Elm is currently offering up to 40% off!! Our marble coffee table is on major sale and our navy accent chair is under $300! They also have really cute organization storage racks, glass jewelry boxes (I have one on our dresser) and lovely bathroom accessories.
