Everyone keeps joking about the ‘quarantine fifteen’ and frankly I’m over here trying not to gain a casual 20 lbs while sitting at home in my leggings. (anyone? anyone?) Stress and boredom eating is real, friends. Normally when I’m stressed, I love hitting up fitness classes. That hit of endorphins and sweat instantly boosts my mood. Since that hasn’t been a possibility lately, I’m PROUD to say I’ve stuck with my quarantine running schedule. I actually kind of crave it now… Crazy, huh? I’m up to 3 miles and grateful for this new healthy habit.
Because I’m really missing my Soul Cycle classes, I did make a BIG investment and ordered a Peloton bike. It gets delivered next week and I hope I love it as much as my in-person cycling community. But honestly, can’t wait to get my sweat on. In the meantime, Zak and I have been diligent about trying all the free online workout class resources. There are a ton of possibilities and options for whatever kind of mood you’re in!
Peloton App // Beyond the bike, the Peloton app has a ton of class options that you can do on a mat, the floor, in your living room! I’ve tried strength, core and stretching so far. They even offer meditation and dance! Great news – New users can use the app for FREE for 90 days! Highly recommend.
Nike Training Club App // Nike Training Club Premium is FREE right now and it will design a running and fitness program for you! I’ve been using this to reference how long to run each day and it builds a cross-training program, usually 30 minutes or so, on the off days. Again, you can watch the instructors demo the exercise on the app and their voice will guide you through. Great resource.
Studio Three // For my Chicago friends that love the Studio Three community, they are hosting free at home workouts weekly on Instagram live! They send out their weekly schedule via stories for the following day. You can usually count on classes at 7:30am, 12:30pm and 5:30pm.
Pure Barre // Pure Barre On Demand currently has 60 days free trial with code extendedtrial. You can still get a good barre workout at home without any equipment.
CorePower Yoga // CorePower is offering free streaming live classes each day and they are offering free access to a collection of online classes weekly, through CorePower Yoga On Demand.
I am so impressed with the generosity of the fitness community during this stressful time. There is literally something for everyone and much of it is offered for free. I hope that many people will discover the benefits of a regular exercise routine!
Agreed! It’s so nice to have these free and available options right now. Helps me stay calm from any stress or anxiety.
