My Review of Madewell’s Perfect Vintage Jeans

Madewell Perfect Vintage Jeans // Veja Sneakers // Madewell Transport Tote

The Madewell vintage jeans have been a bestseller and on my wish list for about a year now. With endless positive reviews on their website, my interest was piqued. So, I finally popped into a store and decided to try them on.

I’m so glad I shopped for these in store because I think I tried on 5 different sizes and versions?! I’ll start by saying I bought these in 2 SIZES DOWN from my normal jeans size. I am always a size 27 in Madewell denim and I left with a size 25. They have a lot of stretch and room and even the 25s have stretched out a bit (in a good way) since I bought and wore them.

I started with my usually size 27, but had endless room at the waist. Then I went down to a size 26 which fit great, but the store associate assured me they would continue to stretch and it was best to try one more size down. So I went with a size 25 and could still sit comfortably, button them and squat down with ease. All of that to say the website is not exaggerating when it says to size down!

The jeans were a smidge too long on me with a pair of sneakers, so I gave the petites a try in-store, however then they were a bit too short. I decided to go with the 25 regulars and cut the length at home with a pair of sharp scissors. Since the hem is a raw edge, it was easy enough to snip them to the perfect length when I was at home in front of the mirror.

I would argue these are one of the most comfortable pair of jeans I have for working at home. They are stretchy and a very soft cotton fabric, so you can sit at home and work without feeling squished in. My only complaint, and this is a stretch, is the waist is very high. They are intentionally high-waisted for that vintage feel, but I don’t think wearing a belt with this pair of jeans would look right. They actually look great with an untucked blouse, because then your waist is fully sucked in! Ha. Overall, 9/10 stars for me. A solid pair of jeans.
