My Winter Haircare Routine

While back in Ohio for the holidays, I got together with my girlfriends for our annual white elephant gift exchange. I love our girl brunches/drinks/trips/all of the above since we dish and share our latest beauty tips and finds. We’ve all been leaning into cleaner beauty products this year; in addition to the usual silly white elephant gift, I was also excited to give them my new favorite vegan-certified shampoo: Nature Box™ Coconut Oil Shampoo.

I’ve been talking about my transition towards cleaner makeup and moisturizers over the past couple months. This switch has greatly improved my skin and prevented break-outs, and I’ve been wanting to start the same healthy habits with my hair. It makes sense, right? I’ve been a vegetarian for about 7 years now, I take vitamins and collagen, and I drink buckets of water to keep my body healthy. I’m more cautious than ever about what products I put on my skin and what makeup brands I’m using. So, it only makes sense to have this same mentality about my hair care.

I was excited to add this Coconut Oil Shampoo & Conditioner into my hair routine, especially during the dryyy winter months. It’s sulfate, silicone and paraben free, so it’s safe on color treated hair, too. Fun fact, Nature Box™ products are made with 100% cold pressed natural oils, which is one of the best methods to extract oils. The process doesn’t alter or damage the oils, so the vitamins and antioxidants for your hair are the most effective. (Perhaps that’s the same reason I love cold pressed juices?!)

My hair has been much drier lately, and I’m fighting winter static on a daily basis, so this was a welcome product change. I try (tryyy) to only wash my hair every other day but since I also work out daily, that isn’t always possible. I love that this shampoo and conditioner doesn’t strip my hair but is hydrating and moisturizing. My hair feels saturated rather than dried out.

Since we order nearly everything on Amazon these days, it’s so easy to re-order when I start to run low on my favorite shampoo or moisturizer. (amiright?! #addtocart)

My winter haircare and styling routine goes a little something like this…

ONE // Shampoo and condition with Nature Box™. (Again, I try to only wash my hair every other day.)

TWO // Towel dry my hair as much as possible and comb through with a wide tooth comb. Then, I let it air dry for a few minutes.

THREE // Add a dab of hair oil to my damp hair to prevent static and use a root volumizing spray.

FOUR // Blow dry my hair upside down and use a round brush to add a bit of volume to my roots.

FIVE // If I’m leaving my hair straight, then I just add a little spritz of hair spray and dry shampoo. If I want to curl it, I just add a few loose curls to the bottom and give my head a little toss and spritz. Voila!
